A Delicious Science Challenge
This week, pupils had the chance to see how science is part of everyday life. We learnt about solids, liquids and gases and how we can categorise food into these. Through baking, we got to see how food can also change from one state into another. For example, when mixing everything together to make pancakes it is a liquid, but when we cook that mixture it turns into a solid. To see this change, pupils made macroons, Scottish oatcakes, oatmeal and raisin cookies, pancakes and buns.
I think we can all agree that the end results look delicious!
'We talked through texture, dry and wet ingredients, measuring, fractions, liquids to solid, chemical changes and best of all we enjoyed decorating, sharing and eating them.' - A great example of spending quality, family time together whilst learning!
