A special visitor in P1/2
Today P1/2 welcomed Mrs Berger-Hobson to their class to speak about the Jewish tradition of Hanukkah. Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a Jewish holiday that is celebrated for eight days. It’s a time for children to enjoys gifts, play games and eat delicious food. P1/2 were lucky enough to taste delicious potato latkes treats that Miki’s mum made for them all and listen to a story about Hanukkah Bear. They were also shown a special spinning top called a dreidel which is popular game to play during Hanukkah. Mrs Berger- Hobson spoke to the class in Hebrew and wrote their names. Did you know that the letters of Hebrew are written from right to left and are different symbols to the english alphabet. During Hanukkah there are eight days of presents and a candle is lit each evening and placed on a special candle holder called a menorah. The class were delighted to be given chocolate coins for a little treat. Thank you so much for coming into P1/2, they all had a great morning.
