Education Minister Cuts Ribbon on New Orchard County Primary School Multi-Use Games Area
The Minister for Education Mr Peter Weir visited Orchard County this afternoon to officially open our new multi-use games area (MUGA). He was joined by the Education Authority's Director of Education, Mr John Collings, our governors, some staff and a number of local councillors and MLAs. Mr Blevins welcomed our visitors before Mr Twyble (our chairman), Mr Collings and Mr Weir all spoke to the governors, staff and pupils in attendance. The Minister then cut the ribbon and declared the facility open before joining in with our P6s and P7s who were enjoying a coaching session with our IFA Primary Coach, Chris Wright. The Minister congratulated the school community on the installation of the new facilty and said he hoped it would help to produce the next generation of Northern Ireland footballing superstars!
After the official opening, our visitors retired to the school assembly hall for some refreshments. Mr Weir also popped in to say hello to other pupils enjoying music lessons in the school and then met with the Mr Twyble, Mr Blevins and some other local DUP representatives to discuss the school's considerble growth and the school's on-going challenges regarding enrolment and capacity. It was another special day at Orchard County Primary School and one we will remember for a long time to come!
