We were so fortunate to have Mr Ellis and Mr Donaldson in this morning to speak to us on how numeracy is used everyday in their jobs as a firefighter and a bank manager. We hadn’t considered how many calculations a firefighter does when responding to a fire and before entering a burning building. We enjoyed solving the different equations Mr Ellis gave us which he and his colleagues complete everyday.
Mr Donaldson then spoke to us on the variety of ways we can use a bank; for saving, borrowing, changing currency etc. We then enjoyed a budgeting challenge and learning about the importance of saving some of our income each month for unpredictable expenses.
Thank you to both Mr Ellis and Mr Donaldson for their time spent preparing for today and coming in to share with us, we had a great morning.
