Harvest Thanksgiving and Farewell Mrs Barker

24th Oct 2023

We had a very special Harvest Thanksgiving assembly this morning.

All our pupils and staff attended as P6/7 led a fantastic assembly to thank God for all his goodness to us.

We were also giving thanks for the service of Mrs Winnie Barker, our dedicated and amazing classroom assistant. She was a classroom assistant in Annaghmore P.S. from 1997 to 2005 and then transferred to Orchard County P.S. when we amalgamated with Tullyroan P.S. in 2005 and has given over 26 years of service to the children in both schools. The children drew some lovely pictures, wrote special messages, performed a Harvest poem, written by Mrs Barker and read poems they had written about Mrs Barker.

We were delighted to present her with flowers and a gift voucher from the pupils and parents of Orchard County PS. She would like to pass on her thanks to you all for your kindness (see her poem below).

Tomorrow is Mrs Barker’s last day in school and I’m sure she will be around the front door at 1pm if you would like to wish her a fond farewell.

The children all left with a Harvest colouring book and some sweets from Mrs Barker.

We wish Mrs Barker and very ‘Happy Retirement’ and know that no matter where she goes or what she does, she will make a difference and change lives for the better.

Thank you so much for your service to our school community, we will really miss you!
